- Février 2010 : l'équipe
AJAI-ADI visite nos partenaires indiens
L'équipe AJAI-ADI a débarqué en ce mois
de février 2010 à Kilvelur.
Le président Michel PIEDNOIR distribue les subventions
à projet à chacun de nos partenaires et fait
le point sur les besoins à court et moyen terme. L'ensemble
des installations de l'école AVAGHS, du GGMS et du
gurukulam KGKG de Vedaraniam sont visitées par nos
membres.
Les activités d'animation sont cette année
plus restreintes compte tenu de notre faible effectif. Mais
les ateliers de perles, le concours de Kôlam et autres
échanges ont quand même emporter l'adhésion
de tous.
- Février 2009 : l'ambassadeur
d' AJAI-ADI remet des enveloppes à nos partenaires
Suite au passage du cyclone NISHA sur le Tamil-Nadu, AJAI-ADI
avec l'aide de donateurs occasionnels a décider d'offrir
une aide exceptionnelle à ses partenaires afin de faire
face aux pertes qu'ils ont pu avoir.
Profitant du voyage de son Vice-président Stéphane
THOMAS, l'association a préparer les fonds et documents
pour le mois de février.
Dans son rôle d'ambassadeur de l'association, Stéphane
a donc remis à chacun de nos partenaires (AVAGHS, GGMS,
KGKG, Arasur school) la somme de 300 €.
- Novembre
2008 Passage du cyclone Nisha
Quelques nouvelles du Tamil Nadu après le passage
du cyclone Nisha avec les derniers messages email reçus
de Ragul et de Ravi anna. Ils nous donnent quelques détails.
Tout le monde va bien, et dans les villages de Kilvelur et
Agarakadambanoor, il n'y a à déploré
que des dégats matériels : toitures arrachées,
arbres couchés, réseaux coupés, champs
et rizières inondés et récolte perdues.
Les maison les plus fragiles ont été fortement
endomagées ou détruites (sur le bord du canal
ou dans les villages reculés), mais heureusement aucune
perte humaine (du moins à la connaissance de Noor et
Hameedu).
MESSAGE DU 27/11 de RAVI ANNA
Nisha the cyclone stationed at coastal Vedaraniam for more
than 50 hours and have caused severe damage to the crop, salt
and vegetation and hardship to people of Vedaraniam and Kodikarai
area. The place is cut from other parts of the land for the
past 3 days. There is no electricity and communication for
want of electricity, transport is nil.
There is hip deep water inside the Sri Vedaraniyeswar temple,
because of the downpour and torrential rains, which the Nisha
has brought with severe winds. The undersigned has went to
temple to perform dharpanam for Amavasya ( New moon day)
has to wade through hip deep water in side the Vedaraniam
big temple could find fishes swimming briskly. The rain fall
is more than 1000 mm in four days- non stop.
The salt works has sustained the brunt more. The entire lay
out is under the influence of rain water and high tidal water
due to cyclone and new moon day. The entire stock of salt
heaps has been washed due to tidal action. The seas both Bay
of Bengal in the east and Palk Strait are still rough and
hence the water is not receding unlike previous occasion of
Cyclones.
The exact situation of Salt works loss and Salt stock can
be assessed only after the rain and tidal water recedes.
The Salt labors and agricultural labors are thrown out of
job for at least one month since now because of the damages.
The electric supply would resume after the posts are again
erected which may take a week.
There is acute shortage of food supplies and vegetables and
tomato is sold @ Rs. 100/ kg. (us$ 2)
The new Salt crop would come belatedly and there is acute
shortage in Salt production is expected. The district Red
Cross has reported for relief measures to the State office.
The Salt departmental office and the quarters are encircled
with water and the building s faced damages. The entire areas
are strewn with fallen trees and breaches in the water bodies.

My dear Micheal father.
thanks for your kind mail. I have sent u a mail already.
but now I am resending it. I have come to chennai for a wedding
with great difficulty taking a circutous route. tomorrow i
will go back taking a diff. route. i shall give you more info
once i reach there. thank you for your consideration, and
your kind heart. there was full strength of hostel girls, they could not go
home during the nisha cyclone. there was water every where.
we could not milk the cows for 2 days and no cow keepers could
come to our place. the claves started calling for they want
milk from cows. We could not work at kitchen early morning,
and the delayed serving has been resulted. there was no electricy,
no news paper, tv etc. vegetables fuel everthing difficult.
since yesterday parent have come and are taking their children
to home when ti is possible for them. they all lauded the
emergency services of your dear gurukulam, since there is
no such facility available for them at their homes. we were
having diesel run electric generator for pumping water and
use internet, for night lighting.
with all the difficulties we could feed the police who have
come for emergency to the town, and are starved since there
is no food shop open at town. like wise the municipaity and
revenue people also. i shall write to you may be on the 2nd
dec.

Dear friends,
Thanks for your concern on us. This is the article released
in the TN Hindu paper. As now am FAR away from the TN i have
only little exposure to the Rain News.
But this is Heavy Rain.
- More than 50 peopel were dead in Chennai alone.
- Lot of damages to the Property were noticed.
- Heavy down pour along with the Cyclone were the bad luck
- And this article will help you to understand the sistuation
better.
